From Our Residents and Families

At Fountain Circle, our hard work and efforts are rewarded daily by the patients and residents we serve. Not only are we thanked in person on a regular basis, we receive countless letters, poems and artwork showing appreciation. These stories are from actual residents and family members and are representative of many we receive.

My mom Ruby has been a resident at your center since 2004. After caring for my mother at home for over 15 years, the time came when I needed to choose a facility to meet her needs.

My mom receives excellent care here. She has many Certified Nursing Assistants that look out for her daily, and I really don’t know what I would do without them.

This Easter, my family had a gathering planned at my brother’s home. One of the aides, Wilma Ladson, actually came in on her day off to get my mom groomed, dressed, and ready for her home visit. That meant so much to me.

My mother also enjoys the activities that your center provides for the residents. Tatum Graves does a great job of ensuring that each one is involved in things that they like to do. My mom especially enjoys the weekly bingo game and the crafts, and she attends some of the church services that are scheduled throughout the week.

I always make it a point to praise Fountain Circle when I am out in the community. I don’t think that you can beat the care she gets here. In my opinion, it is the best in our area.

My husband Robert has been a resident in the Reflections Unit of your center for quite some time. After much consideration, I decided to move him from the Alzheimer’s wing to another part of the facility. Since then, I have seen such a change in him.

I have seen much improvement in his cleanliness, his grooming, his responses and his attitudes. His medication levels have been adjusted to help him be more alert every day. Now when I come to see him, we are able to enjoy spending time together. I attribute all of this to the attention and the patience of your nursing staff. They are very attentive to his needs.

I have also noticed that the food has improved, which has increased his appetite, and the cleanliness of the building is great.

Speech therapy has been working with Robert, and he has made such progress. He is now able to answer questions when asked, and he also sings along with me. Of course, all of the words aren’t correct, but it’s wonderful to hear his voice.

My husband loves the activities here. His favorite thing to do is kicking the ball. Also, he has a headset which allows him to listen to music during the day. This seems to calm him greatly.

I am well pleased with his treatment at Fountain Circle.

Our son and brother Garffie has been a resident at Fountain Circle Health and Rehabilitation since December 2008. He is 64 years old and has Parkinson’s disease.

At home, Garffie’s speech had become almost non-existent (just a few grunts here and there), and to even shake his head to answer us was almost an impossible task for him. He relied mainly on signals that we acknowledged and a bell he would ring to let us know that he needed something. It was very rare to even see him smile.

After looking at several facilities, we chose this center. It was the cleanest (almost spotless), friendliest, and the most caring and sensitive facility to Garffie and to our family.

Soon after he came here, he was given a communication board that he used to identify things that he needed. Within a month, he was calling each of our family members by name and had learned many of the aides and nurses by name. We were amazed! He even says some phrases. Now, if the laundry basket is full, he says “clothes,” and we know to take them home to be washed. What a difference!

There are many things that have impressed us about Fountain Circle. Mary, the unit coordinator, has been so very conscientious and dedicated. She is an asset to the facility. We are notified of any changes that take place with Garffie, no matter how small. Any issues that we have had have always been addressed. Therapy has worked with him to get his body stronger. He can now lift his left arm over his head. Something he had not been able to do for quite a while. Some of the aides make sure that his TV is on the channels that he likes and put his movies in for him to watch. This doesn’t sound like a big deal, but Garffie is unable to do it for himself.

We are happy with the center. Garffie is not the same person that we brought here. He trusts the staff, enjoys them, and jokes with them. When we ask him if he wants to go home, he says, ”No!” We are totally satisfied with his care.

For the past two years, Lana’s mother has been a resident at Fountain Circle where she receives excellent care, in the best possible environment.

To us, the quality of care and kindness of the staff is the hallmark of the center. The standard of excellence starts at the top with the Executive Director, who is genuinely interested in individual care, is fully engaged in the daily operation and is always readily accessible. This continues through the management, administration, nursing, physical therapy and the aide staff. They are friendly, caring and demonstrate a genuine love for the residents.

They also try very hard to raise the quality of life for the residents, who are encouraged to participate in dining and social activities. The Activity Directors do an excellent job of finding hobbies and crafts that all of the residents enjoy. They oversee these activities with love and care for the residents.

The facility, furniture, and equipment are always spic and span. They are constantly striving and working for an environment that is healthy, clean, and odor free.

We are delighted that Lana’s mom is a resident of Fountain Circle, where she receives the best care from the best people.

Sincerely,

Bob and Lana

Geneva came to Fountain Citcle Health and Rehabilitation in January 2009. Even though her son, Larry, said that he would never put his mother in a nursing home, Geneva herself made the decision to come.

Larry said that at his home, "My mom had stopped talking, laughing, eating, and pretty much doing anything. Now, she has made a complete turnaround. We attribute this to the Reflections Unit at the center.

"My mother’s weight has increased because her appetite has greatly improved, and also because she chooses to eat in the dining area instead of eating in her room."

"Her attitude has changed 100% for the better," said her daughter-in-law, Brenda. "She feels like she is in her own apartment, and it has been really good for her. Geneva is always pleasant, very talkative, smiling, and enjoys being here. She loves her nurses and aides. In fact, she calls them “her little health nurses.” "

"My mom likes it here, and she will tell you this herself," Larry adds. "She is very content. We are well satisfied with her care."
